What is Axelerator and what does it do?

Axelerator is a library-based plugin for AutoCAD Plant 3D that provides a large collection of high-quality components, including valves, instruments, fittings, and other piping items. The components are built using Python scripts and linked to manufacturer-specific metadata, designed to work seamlessly with your Plant 3D project. The goal of Axelerator is to give users a reliable, ready-to-use component library that improves accuracy, reduces manual setup, and speeds up everyday design work.

Which versions of AutoCAD Plant 3D are supported?

Axelerator currently supports multiple Plant 3D versions through two plugin releases:

  • - Axelerator 4.2.2 Compatible with AutoCAD Plant 3D 2023, 2024, and 2025
  • - Axelerator 5.0 Compatible with AutoCAD Plant 3D 2025

We continue to update the plugin as new Autodesk releases become available.

How do I install Axelerator?

Installation is done through a simple installer package. Just download the file, run it, and follow the on-screen instructions.

When logging in for the first time, users are asked to verify their credentials using a unique license token. The token is provided by your company administrator or sent directly to you if you are a single user.

We are several people in the same office who want to use Axelerator. Does the software synchronize between users?

All users in the same team or license group have access to the same content, provided everyone is using the latest version of Axelerator. If the content appears different, click the Content Update-button in the upper-right corner of the software.

We work with confidential projects, can we use Axelerator?

Yes, Axelerator is designed to support use in environments with high confidentiality requirements. To improve bug tracking and provide more efficient user support, certain user data may by default be collected. If you are working with sensitive or confidential projects, please contact us and we can offer a customized solution where all data is handled locally within your own systems. This allows you to use Axelerator safely while maintaining full control over your data.

Does Axelerator require an internet connection?

Axelerator works locally within AutoCAD Plant 3D and can be used offline. An internet connection is only required the first time a user logs in, to verify the license. Once verified, the license remains valid offline for the full duration of the license period.

Keep in mind that new Axelerator releases and content library updates do require an internet connection. If your environment needs to stay completely offline, reach out to us and we can provide a custom solution for making content updates available in a fully offline setup.

How is licensing handled?

Licenses are purchased per company and can be assigned to the users who need access. The number of active seats depends on your current license plan. If your company needs additional users, licenses can be upgraded at any time.

How do I get support?

If you run into any issues, you can reach out to us by email, we’re happy to help. All users can also find common troubleshooting steps and optional project setups listed in the changelog documentation.

Are updates included?

Yes. Updates and improvements are released regularly. These updates typically include bug fixes, new features, and support for newer AutoCAD Plant 3D versions.

Can I request new content?

Yes. If there’s something specific you need, feel free to reach out. We’re always open to requests, and many of our most used components come directly from user requests.

Can I request new features?

Absolutely. If there’s something that would help your workflow, feel free to reach out. User feedback guides the roadmap, and many existing features come directly from customer suggestions.

We work with custom-designed components that are therefore not included in your library. Is it possible to add them?

Yes, we are happy to provide custom-designed components that are tailored to your specific standards and workflows. Custom components can be created and integrated into your library. Feel free to contact us to discuss your requirements and the best way to integrate your custom content.

Does Axelerator require admin rights to install?

This depends on your company’s IT policies and setup.

Axelerator works well even in environments with strict admin or IT policies. The plugin installs under C:/ProgramData, which avoids changes to protected system directories. In most cases, admin rights are only needed during the initial installation. However, depending on your company’s IT setup and how project files are stored or managed (for example, on network drives, synced folders, or restricted locations), certain permission-related issues may occur.

If your organization has a unique or highly controlled environment, feel free to reach out. We can help verify compatibility and offer guidance for a smooth deployment.

We are already using Axelerator and plan to upgrade to a newer version of Plant 3D. Will Axelerator continue to work?

Yes, Axelerator is actively maintained and updated as new Autodesk releases become available. There are currently two active plugin versions, and both are compatible with AutoCAD Plant 3D 2025.

  • - Axelerator 4.2.2 Compatible with AutoCAD Plant 3D 2023, 2024, and 2025
  • - Axelerator 5.0 Compatible with AutoCAD Plant 3D 2025

If you wish to upgrade to Axelerator 5.0, please contact your company admin who will send you the installer. If that’s not possible, please contact us and we’ll be happy to assist.

I can’t log in to my account?

When logging in for the first time, a unique license token is required to verify your account. If you are missing your token, please refer to the FAQ question “I lost my token, what should I do?” below.

If this does not resolve the issue, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.

I lost my token, what should I do?

The token used to log in to Axelerator is unique to your company’s license pool (or to your individual license if you’re a single user). If you’ve lost your token, please contact your company admin first, they can provide the token for your license group.

If that’s not possible or you’re still unable to access Axelerator, reach out to us and we’ll help you sort it out.
